Starry Messenger

Galileo’s revelations of the planets’ motions, published in his Sidereus Nuncius (Starry Messenger) revolutionized how people saw the universe. Folger Consort celebrates this age of revelations with a song of the music of the spheres, operatic arias, and dramatic songs by Monteverdi, lute music by Galileo’s father Vincenzo Galilei, and brilliant early violin sonatas. With strings, harpsichord, and soprano.

Galileo’s groundbreaking work will be on display at the Folger from February 4 through April 30 as part of an exhibition of treasures from Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
