On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, poet Brenda Hillman will join USBG Horticulturist Adam Pyle to investigate a certain section of the Botanic Garden. Some of the galleries under discussion include The Tropics, The Garden Primeval, the cacti of World Deserts, Medicinal Plants, and Orchids.
They will discuss the powerful link between the natural and poetic worlds. Following the discussion with Brenda and Adam, workshop participants will have the opportunity to hear Brenda read some of her own work as they begin to contemplate their own writing. Drawing upon a natural object from the Botanic Garden or from one’s own surroundings, participants will have time to write their own poems.
This program is a collaboration with the Folger Shakespeare Library and the U.S. Botanic Garden.
This virtual workshop will be presented via Zoom at 7:00pm Eastern Time (ET). Access links will be included in a reminder email closer to the event.
