...is an imagined Lady Macbeth origin story in rhyming verse that I promise you is way more fun than Macbeth. And I think Macbeth is fun so...chew on that.
It's about one of the most famous, nay, notorious women in theatre history who never even got a first name. She's just...Lady (insert husband's name).
Her character description often gets reduced to a word: Ambitious. Occasionally you'll hear conniving or treacherous. But if you ignore hundreds of years of performance (good luck) and read the text, really read the text, I think there's so much more there. No one is just one thing, full stop, right? Why should she be the exception? And what the hell is she doing when she's not onstage dealing with her husband?
This is a story that gives all the women of your favorite Scottish play some much deserved extra stage time.
